FITNESS TRENDS IN 2020

Fitness trend is a wide topic that covers pretty much anything fitness related, whether it’s a type of workout, a piece of equipment, or a style of apparel. For instance, the Shake Weight is a perfect example of a short-lived fitness furor, it came and went like a flash in the pan. Let’s see 2020 fitness trends!

1. Exercise is Medicine
Exercise is Medicine is a global health initiative focused on urging primary care physicians and other health care providers to include physical activity when scheming treatment plans for patients and referring their patients to exercise professionals. A doctor’s note for a long walk a day? Sounds like good medicine to us.

2. Functional Training
In recent years Cross Fit has made a massive impact on the fitness industry. It became a big-name as the classes provided people with a quick and efficient way to get fit and burn calories. Functional training, as the name proposes, works on movements that work the muscles we use most for everyday tasks. This type of training helps our bodies to function at their best for as long as possible.
Functional training focuses on refining balance and coordination and building strength in the right way. This trend is a particularly significant type of training for older adults and will ensure a long-term, injury-free, and healthy fitness plan.

3. Mindful Workouts
Studies show that many people use their fitness regimen as their primary stress diminution method. Physical activity has the power to alleviate anxiety and reduce stress levels in the body. Mindfulness practice helps to manage anxiety and even depression. With the knowledge that we can use both mindfulness and exercise to help ease stress, people are now looking to incorporate both techniques.

4. Group Training
Group training is just defined as a group of people led through a fitness routine by an instructor. The notion is to motivate people by making exercise more fun and social. Cyclists are all about that. In fact, we love group training so much we even have a special word for a pack of us: peloton. If you tend not to be a lone wolf, try a group workout for 2020. You’ll be glad you did.

5. Employing Certified Fitness Professionals
Hiring a fitness professional debuted on the trend list last year, and holds its position in the top 10 for 2020. For cyclists, this means hiring a coach, something I recommend all serious cyclists try at least once. Good coaches do more than just designing training plans; you can download those online for a reasonable price. They should be someone you can share your goals and insecurities with, who will help you cut through the clutter and be the best you can be.

6. Fitness with Technology
Technology has revolutionized the fitness industry as well in recent years, but the chances are we have only seen the tip of the iceberg.
More playful fitness apps and even fun classes that utilize technology to increase the user experience are in their making. There will be sessions using wearable technology, VR technology, and other fun apps. This will also incorporate more apps that involve teams getting together and working together on collective goals and tournaments. Essentially, we will see hit apps, treasure hunts, VR gyms, races with prizes to collect, and all sorts of fun and entertaining ways to get in or stay in shape; people will barely notice that they are burning vast amounts of calories.
